The Original Genna
I majored in Creative Advertising and specialized in Design at Michigan State University. After receiving my Bachelor's Degree in 2016, I went on to design brand identity, websites, print collateral, social media ads, trade show materials, constant contact and much more for dental companies around the globe. Although I'm nearly three years in, I'm not limited to the dental industry. I've also dipped my toes into press, apparel, and gaming.
I balance my freelance with personal creative work, like hand-lettering, illustration and vocalizing mental health. My future goal is to display weekly art, via social media, discussing daily struggles from the perspective of the emotionally unavailable. I'm all about ending the stigma!
My creative approach—no matter the medium—is to find points of tension behind the idea I’ve been assigned or am interested in. I do several iterations on each point and usually end up refining the one I find most controversial.
For me, controversy isn’t about instigation, but rather, a way to arrest your audience. It’s a way to plant a little bit of desire in their hearts; a yearning to turn the page and learn more about your idea. Ultimately, it’s about creating memorable images.
